Dr. Boone uses the free-standing robotic arm to create a 3D model of your knee or hip joint, which is used to plan and guide your surgery. Then he uses the robotic arm again to very precisely remove damaged tissues and implant the prosthetic joint. The Mako system decreases operative room time and lessens damage to the healthy surrounding tissues, allowing faster and improved recovery
Smith & Nephew NAVIO™ Surgical System
This robot-assisted system offers similar benefits to the Mako technology, but it’s a handheld device that uses real-time imaging to plan and guide your surgery. The NAVIO system also provides Dr. Boone with the ability to place a ligament-sparing knee replacement based on your anatomy. The Smith & Nephew XR total knee is a great alternative for patients who have an intact Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) and want to retain this ligament.
What to Expect at Your First Visit
Your first visit with Dr. Boone starts with a review of your symptoms, medical history, and any prior imaging or treatment. He performs a physical exam of the affected joint and may order X-rays or other imaging on-site to confirm a diagnosis.
